Smugglers Cove began as a tackle shop with boat rentals and fuel, a luncheonette, and rental units for vacationers. Over the years The Knit Wit Yarn Shop, a canvas business, a tackle supplier, and a fresh fish store were also part of Smugglers Cove. The building underwent renovations and changes as a result of storm damage and changes in business focus. In 1977, the tackle shop was moved to its current location.
